Saint-Priest is a commune in the department of Rhone and the Rhone-Alpes region of France. It is the fourth-largest suburb of the city of Lyon, and is located to its southeast side. It is a member of the metropolitan Urban Community of Lyon. In the 1999 census, Saint-Priest had a population of forty thousand nine hundred and seventy four. Rhone is a French department located in the central Eastern region of Rhone-Alpes. It is named after the Rhone River. The Rhone department was created on August 12, 1793 when the former department of Rhone-et-Loire was split into two departments.
