Sainte-Foy-les-Lyon is a town and community of the Rhone department and the Rhone-Alpes region of France. It is a suburb of the city of Lyon, and is situated to its north-northeast. It is therefore a component of the metropolitan Urban Community of Lyon. Rhone is a French department located in the central Eastern region of Rhone-Alpes. It is named after the Rhone River.
 
The altitude of the city is 311 meters, land area is 6.83 square kilometers and population as per the 1999 census is 21,193 and the density is 3,102 square kilometers. It is an industrial town only three miles from the centre of Lyon, although is a community in its own right. The town grew as a haven from the industry of Lyon, as it is set high above the city, and there are some superb panoramas of Lyon and the surrounding area, notably from a park known as the Esplanade de Lichfield.
 
Lyon is said to be the city of three rivers that are the Rhone and Saone rivers which join there and the Beaujolais wine. Sainte Foy's best historic asset is remains of a Roman aqueduct and there is a fine seminary, steep narrow walled streets, parks and gardens, and squares in the town centre. The community is twinned with Lichfield, Staffordshire, England.
