Rambouillet is a community in the metropolitan area of Paris, France. It is located 44.3 kilometers southwest from the center of Paris. Rambouillet is a sous-prefecture of the Yvelines departement, being the seat of the Arrondissement of Rambouillet. With 24,758 inhabitants according to 1999 poll, Rambouillet is one of the biggest satellite cities of Paris. Rambouillet is well-known for its vast Forest of Rambouillet as well as for the Chateau de Rambouillet which hosted numerous international summits. Due to its proximity to Paris and Versailles, Rambouillet has long been an occasional seat of government.
 
Rambouillet is served by Rambouillet station on the Transilien Paris–Montparnasse suburban rail line. It is well-known for its castle, which belongs to the French President, where he organizes international conferences and where he hosts Chiefs of state visiting France. Rambouillet has a broad range of facilities and offers different activities all year round. It is a quiet and calm town with no security problems.
