Pierrefitte-sur-Seine

France, officially the French Republic, is a country whose metropolitan territory is located in Western Europe and comprises various overseas islands and territories which are located in other regions. Metropolitan France extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea, and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean. The sole official language of France is French. Since prehistoric times, France has been a crossroads of trade, migrations, and invasions.

Pierrefitte-sur-Seine is a commune in the northern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 12.4 kilometres from the center of Paris. In March 2004 the French President, Jacques Chirac, announced that the National Archives of France would be relocated from the center of Paris to a new complex built in the south of the commune of Pierrefitte-sur-Seine, close to Saint-Denis Universite station on Line 13 of the Paris Metro. Land area is  3.41 square kilometres and its population in 1999 census was 25,816. Its density in 1999 was 7,571 per square kilometres. The town is twinned with Braintree and Rudersdorf bei Berlin.

The south of the commune, where the National Archives of France are due to relocate by 2009, is served by Saint-Denis Universite station on Paris Metro line 13. This station lies at the border between the commune of Pierrefitte-sur-Seine and the commune of Saint-Denis, on the Saint-Denis side of the border. It is also said the place of best geographical environment and can trace its origin back to prehistoric times.
