Oyonnax




France, officially the French Republic, is a country whose metropolitan territory is located in Western Europe and comprises various overseas islands and territories which are located in other regions. Metropolitan France extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea, and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean. At 674,843 square kilometres, France is the world's 40th-largest country after Myanmar. France is a member of The European Union and Paris is the capital of this nation. Oyonnax is a commune in the French departement of Ain, the second largest in the department. Its residents are known as oyonnaxiens. Oyonnax lies in a valley of the Jura Mountains in the far north of the département. Ain is a department named after the Ain River on the eastern edge of France bordering Switzerland. Oyonnax has a land area of 35.98 square kilometers and population of 24,636 with density of 684.7 square kilometers. The town has a cultural centre including cinemas, concert halls, and a Museum of the Comb and of the Plastics Industry.
 
Tourist activities include hiking, canoeing and cross-country skiing among the forests, hills and lakes of the area. Oyonnax is twinned with Eislingen-Fils, Germany, since December 2001. A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, luxurious hotels and cottages, Oyonnax is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
