Nanterre




France, officially the French Republic, is a country whose metropolitan territory is located in Western Europe and comprises various overseas islands and territories which are located in other regions. At 674,843 square kilometers, France is the world's 40th-largest country after Myanmar. France is a member of The European Union and Paris is the capital of this nation. Nanterre is a commune in the western suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 11.1 kilometers from the center of Paris. Nanterre is the prefecture of the Hauts-de-Seine department, as well as the seat of the Arrondissement of Nanterre. Its Land area is 12.19 square kilometers. In 1999 census, Nanterre population was 86,700, 84,281 and density in 2004 is 7,112 square kilometers.
 
Inhabitants of Nanterre are called Nanterrais. La Defense, Paris business district hosting the tallest buildings in the metropolitan area, spreads over the eastern part of Nanterre. The city of Nanterre also includes the University Paris X Nanterre, one of the largest universities in the Paris metropolitan area. Because the headquarters of many major corporations are located in La Defense, the court of large claims of Nanterre is well-known in the media for the number of high-profile lawsuits and trials that take place in it.
