Venissieux is a commune in the department of Rhone and the Rhone-Alpes region of France. It is the second-largest suburb of the city of Lyon and is adjacent to its southeast side. It is therefore a component of the metropolitan urban community of Lyon and is connected to Lyon's Metro system on the line D. It may welcome Olympique Lyonnais' newest stadium of 50,000 or 60,000 seats, which if not would be built in either Pusignan or Decines. Rhone is a French department located in the central Eastern region of Rhone-Alpes. It is named after the Rhone River.
