Meaux is a community in the metropolitan area of Paris, France. It is located 41.1 kilometers or 25.5 miles east-northeast from the center of Paris as the crow flies. Meaux is a sous-prefecture of the Seine-et-Marne departement, being the seat of the Arrondissement of Meaux. Meaux, together with six smaller neighboring communities, form an urban area of 67,956 inhabitants according to 1999 poll and an area of 14.95 square kilometers. This urban area is a satellite city of Paris.
 
Meaux is well-known for Brie de Meaux a range of Brie cheese and the local variety of mustard. Meaux is served by Meaux station on the Transilien Paris–Est suburban rail line and on several national rail lines. The Population of Meaux in July 1, 2004 was 49,800.
