Savigny-le-Temple

France, officially the French Republic, is a country whose metropolitan territory is located in Western Europe and comprises various overseas islands and territories which are located in other regions. Metropolitan France extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean. At 674,843 square kilometers, France is the world's 40th-largest country after Myanmar. It is a member of the European Union and Paris is the capital of this nation.

Savigny-le-Temple is one of most popular destinations in France, and is well known for the quantity of cultural related attractions and monuments. It is a commune in the southeastern suburbs of Paris. It is located almost 33.2 kilometers from the center of Paris, in the new town of Senart, established in the 1970s, of which it is the most populated place. Savigny-le-Temple possesses a total land area of 11.97 square kilometers, population of 26,096 as of 2005 census and the population density of 2,180 inhabitants per square kilometer.

The name Savigny-le-Temple means Savigny the temple. It was temporarily renamed Savigny-sur-Balory during the French Revolution which means Savigny upon Balory, owing to the small Balory river. It was also temporarily renamed Savigny-le-Port which means Savigny the port. These changes were perhaps motivated by the religious implication of the word temple.

Presently, Savigny-le-Temple experiences a sharp social, economic and population growth derivative of the strategic position of the locality and the high level of well-being and quality of life that is enjoyed with respect to other places of France. This fact has consolidated along with other adjacent municipalities, as a great alternative for residence.
