Sarcelles




France, officially the French Republic, is a country whose metropolitan territory is located in Western Europe and comprises various overseas islands and territories which are located in other regions. Sarcelles is a commune in the northern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 16.3 kilometers from the center of Paris. Sarcelles is a sous-prefecture of the Val-d'Oise department, being the seat of the Arrondissement of Sarcelles. The total surface land area of Sarcelles is 8.45 square kilometers with a population is of 57,900 and density of 6,852 per square kilometers.
 
In the south of the commune, during the 1950s and 1960s, housing public sectors were built in order to accommodate pieds-noirs, many of them Jewish, who left Algeria due to the Algerian War of Independence. Sarcelles is served by Garges Sarcelles station on Paris Network Regional Express train line D. It is also served by Sarcelles-Saint-Brice station on the Transilien Paris Nord suburban rail line. This station, although administratively located on the territory of the neighboring commune of Saint-Brice-sous-Foret, lies in fact very near the town center of Sarcelles.
 
Val-d'Oise is a French department named after the Oise River, located in the Ile-de-France region. Val-d'Oise was created when the former departments Seine and Seine-et-Oise were broken up into six departments in 1968. A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, luxurious hotels and cottages, Sarcelles is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
