Les Lilas

Les Lilas is a community in the eastern suburbs of Paris, France. It is situated 5.7 kilometers from the center of Paris. It is one of the most thickly populated municipalities in Europe. The city’s land area is 1.26 square kilometers, population as per the 1999 census was 20,226 and the density was 16,052 square kilometers.
 
The community of Les Lilas was formed on July 24th, 1867 by detaching a part of the territory of Romainville and merging it with a part of the territory of Pantin and a part of the territory of Bagnolet. Seine-Saint-Denis is a French department located in the Ile-de-France region. The city has a surface area of only 236 square kilometers, making it one of the smallest departments in France. The community has a veritable history as a left-wing stronghold, belonging to the ceinture rouge of Paris.
