La Roche-sur-Yon

France, officially the French Republic, is a country whose metropolitan territory is located in Western Europe and comprises various overseas islands and territories which are located in other regions. Metropolitan France extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean. At 674,843 square kilometers, France is the world's 40th-largest country after Myanmar. France is a member of the European Union and Paris is the capital of this nation. The sole official language of France is French. Since prehistoric times, France has been a crossroads of trade, migrations, and invasions.

La Roche-sur-Yon is a town and commune in western France, prefecture of the Vendee department. The town was built after Napoleon I had chosen his site to build the new prefecture of the Vendee, which replaced by Fontenay-le-Comte on May 25, 1804. Vendee is a department in west central France, on the Atlantic's Bay of Biscay. The name Vendee is taken from the Vendee River which runs through the south-eastern part of the department. The town was built after Napoleon I had chosen his site to build the new prefecture of the Vendee, which replaced Fontenay-le-Comte on May 25, 1804. Its population is 52,947 inhabitants.

The area today called as Vendee was originally known as the Bas-Poitou. In the south-east corner, the village of Nieul-sur-l'Autise is believed to be the birthplace of Eleanor of Aquitaine and was part of her Kingdom. Eleanor's son, Richard I of England often based himself in Talmont.

La Roche-sur-Yon, justifiably so, enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers, and is one of the most visited place. It is also said the place of best geographical environment and can trace its origin back to prehistoric times.
