Henin-Beaumont

France, officially the French Republic, is a country whose metropolitan territory is located in Western Europe and comprises various overseas islands and territories which are located in other regions. Metropolitan France extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean. At 674,843 square kilometers, France is the world's 40th-largest country after Myanmar. France is a member of the European Union and Paris is the capital of this nation. The sole official language of France is French. Since prehistoric times, France has been a crossroads of trade, migrations, and invasions.

Henin-Beaumont is a commune and the chief town of a canton of northern France, in the Pas-de-Calais department, arrondissement of Lens. It belongs to Communaute d’agglomeration of Henin-Carvin which gathers 14 communes and has a population of 125,000 inhabitants. The commune results from the merger of Henin-Lietard and Beaumont in 1971. The population of the city as of 1999 is 25,610 people. Pas-de-Calais was one of the original 83 departments created during the French Revolution on March 4, 1790. It was created from parts of the former provinces of Boulonnais, Ponthieu and Artois.

Presently, Henin-Beaumont experiences a sharp social, economic and population growth derivative of the strategic position of the locality and the high level of well-being and quality of life that is enjoyed with respect to other places of France. Henin-Beaumont, justifiably so, enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers, and is one of the most visited place.
