Dreux

France, officially the French Republic, is a country whose metropolitan territory is located in Western Europe and comprises various overseas islands and territories which are located in other regions. Metropolitan France extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea, and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean. At 674,843 square kilometres, France is the world's 40th-largest country after Myanmar. France is a member of The European Union and Paris is the capital of this nation. The sole official language of France is French. Since prehistoric times, France has been a crossroads of trade, migrations, and invasions.

Dreux is a town and commune in northwest France, in the Eure-et-Loir department. Dreux came to national attention in 1983 when the then-small National Front made its first electoral breakthrough, winning control of the city council and deputy mayorship. This came at a time of rising unemployment and popular resentment directed at the visible and impoverished community of immigrants, many of whom were Muslims. The Socialist mayor at the time, Francoise Gaspard, later wrote a book about her experience and the times, A Small City in France. It has an altitude of 75 meters to 139 meters and a total land area of 24.27 square kilometers. It has a population of 31,849 with density of 1,312.3 per square kilometers.

A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, luxurious hotels and cottages, Dreux is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
