France, officially the French Republic, is a country whose metropolitan territory is located in Western Europe and comprises various overseas islands and territories which are located in other regions. Metropolitan France extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea, and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean. At 674,843 square kilometres, France is the world's 40th-largest country after Myanmar. France is a member of The European Union and Paris is the capital of this nation. The sole official language of France is French. Since prehistoric times, France has been a crossroads of trade, migrations, and invasions.

Deuil-la-Barre is a commune in the northern suburbs of Paristhe capital city of France and a French departement. It is situated on the banks of the river Seine in north-central France. It is located 13.7 km. or 8.5 miles from the center of Paris. Originally called simply Deuil, the name of the commune became officially Deuil-la-Barre on the 7th of December 1952.

On 7th of August 1850, a part of the territory of Deuil-la-Barre, then called simply Deuil, was detached and merged with a part of the territory of Saint-Gratien, a part of the territory of Soisy-sous-Montmorency, and a part of the territory of Épinay-sur-Seine to create the commune of Enghien-les-Bains.
