Creteil

France, officially the French Republic, is a country whose metropolitan territory is located in Western Europe and comprises various overseas islands and territories which are located in other regions. Metropolitan France extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean. At 674,843 square kilometers, France is the world's 40th-largest country after Myanmar. It is a member of the European Union and Paris is the capital of this nation.

Creteil is one of most popular destinations in France, and is well known for the quantity of cultural related attractions and monuments. It is a commune in the southeastern suburbs of Paris and is located almost 11.5 kilometers from the center of Paris. Creteil is the capital of the Val-de-Marne department, as well as the seat of the Arrondissement of Creteil. Moreover Creteil is the seat of one catholic siege and an academy school. The residents are referred to as Cristolien, and since 1977, the mayor has been Laurent Cathala.

The name Creteil comes from the prefix crist and Olium. These two terms are Gallic clearing for crist and peak for Olium. The clearing of the peak of the Mont-Mesly is on the road connecting Paris and Sens. In 1406, the place name Creteil makes its appearance after consecutive deformations from Cristoill 1278, Cristeuil, Cresteul then Creteuil. Some rare memorials from the paleolithic age are still found in modern times in the area. It is, however, a two-ton, Neolithic-era polishing machine that is the prehistoric pride of Creteil.

Creteil is served by three stations on Paris Metro line number eight of Creteil-L'Echat, Creteil-University and Creteil-Prefecture. In the end of the 18th century, construction of the first middle-class Parisian houses began. In 1814, the east of Creteil was taken by Russian troops. The bridge which spans the Marne between Creteil and Saint-Maur-des-Fosses was inaugurated on April 9, 1841, replacing an ancient ferry.

Presently, Creteil experiences a sharp social, economic and population growth derivative of the strategic position of the locality and the high level of well-being and quality of life that is enjoyed with respect to other places of Italy. This fact has consolidated along with other adjacent municipalities, as a great alternative for residence.
